Faculty Awards
Keith Holten, MD, received the 2005 Humanitarian of the Year
Award from the Clinton County Leadership Institute in recognition of
his work with the Amazonas Project and the startup of the Free
Clinic of Clinton County, Inc.
Dr. Candace Ireton received one of the Cincinnati Business Courier’s
40 under Forty awards in the Fall of 2004 for her leadership in
healthcare issues of indigent Latino patients in Butler County. The
awards recognize young talented leaders – professionals under the
age of 40 who are considered destined to make a difference in our
community.
Robert L. Ludke, PhD, was awarded funding from the Anthem Foundation
of Ohio to continue the evaluation of the Preventive Oral Health
Care Initiative through June 2008. He also
received one-year funding from the University Research Council. He
and Dr. Doug Smucker will collect and analyze preliminary data on
whether racial disparities exist in the willingness to use hospice
services and the potential factors that may contribute to such
disparities.
Dr. Arvind Modawal has been awarded a grant by Ohio Emergency
Medical Services to study identification and intervention by EMS
personnel in senior adults at risk of falling in the community in a
collaborative effort by UC Family Medicine, the College of Allied
Sciences, the UC Institute of Health Policy & Research and the
Hamilton County Health Districts Falls Task Force.
Susan Montauk, MD, was a nominee for the 2005 Cincinnati Business
Courier Health Care Hero Community Service Award
Ed Onusko, MD, received the Clinton Memorial Hospital 2004 Physician
Recognition Award for "demonstrated commitment and dedication to the
hospital and community".
